The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

TFIOSHazel Lancaster is a teen who has been diagnosed with cancer very early on in her life. Hazel spends most of her days lounging on the couch watching reality TV and reading the same book over and over again. When Hazel is diagnosed with depression she is put on medication and attends a support group with teens who also have been diagnosed with cancer. At support group she meets an attractive guy who was also diagnosed with cancer but is now cancer free.

Hazel and Augustus become good friends and Augustus falls in love with Hazel, but she doesn’t want to show affection towards him because she knows that sooner or later she is going to die, and she wants to minimize the number of people she hurts when it’s time for her to leave this world.
